Elliot and Mabel were married in 1920, but had known each other for a while. Below is a picture of them taken in the late 1910s when Elliot was only around 20 years old.

Elliot and Mabel

Elliot married Mabel Irene Nichols (b.1891) in 1920 when he was 25 and she was 29. Here is a picture of Elliot and Mabel with Elliot’s younger brother Leigh (b.1900) and his future wife Lillis Albertine Howard in 1918, presumably at Henry McLain’s house.

Elliot only had one eye

Elliot only had one eye. The other one was shot out by a man because Elliot was sleeping with his wife and they were caught red-handed. He had a glass eye for years, and apparently loved to take it out and show it to all of his nieces and nephews, which, of course horrified them. It is also why he’s wearing those steam-punk specs in the picture on the right.
